Brief Activities & Achievements: Capacity Building Programme (2007-2008)
The Hope Kolkata Foundation believes in quality of service. To ensure this quality of service, Hope Kolkata Foundation organized different Capacity Building Training and Workshops for the staff and children. The following is a list of training programmes provided in 2007-2008.
1. Child Protection Policy: Workshop for the Governing Body members, Chief Functionaries, Coordinators, Counselors and staff of all projects. This workshop was provided to standardize the child protection policy across all groups and to provide common guidelines for all.
Facilitators: Director, Programme Co ordinator, Counselor, Child watch and Education, Child Protection Officer
Participants: 60 staff
2. Training on Monitoring and Evaluation on Project Cycle and Result Based Management: This training was provided for the staff of all partners to ensure proper planning, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation of all projects so that the teachers have the ability to develop their teaching skill in the centres.
Facilitators: ASK team New Delhi, The Hope Foundation
Participants: 6 staff
3. Social Audit: A social audit on the organisation’s work in the community and its progress, involvement etc was conducted. This audit was attended by the Director and Programme Co ordinators

4. Workshop for school teachers on the management of children’s behavioural problems:
Facilitators: Executive Director, Director, Counselors
Participants: Teachers of formal day and residential schools.
5. Training on sexual health and protection for the girls of the Hope Girls Home:
Facilitators: PC — Counselor, Child Protection and Home
Participants: 17 girls from the girl’s home
6. Workshop for caregivers on the management of the adjustment challenges encountered by children when placed in the girl’s home :
Facilitators: Ms. Jolly Laha
Participants: Caregivers of Girls home, Boys home and Punorjibon.
7. Workshop on the teaching methodology for behavioural management of children:
Facilitators: Executive Director, Director
Participants: Teachers and social workers of Nabadisha (Child watch)
8. Workshop on child protection: addressing issues such as health, hygiene, physical and psychological development of children, handling children, child abuse and child marriage. This workshop was available for parents of children living in shelter homes.
Facilitators: Director, Counselor, Child Protection Officer, PC and Assistant PC from shelter homes
Participants: Parents of children living in the girls home and boys home.
9. Two child protection training courses took place: One training course was provided to board members and another training course was provided to staff.
Facilitators: Sheila Banerjee, Psychologist, DANA, Olympia Chatterjee, Child Protection Officer.
Participants: Community people of ward 82, 85, 86.
10. An awareness program for parents of children attending the crèche and preparatory centres was organised: DANA facilitated this program.

Creative workshop for children 3 day workshop for children. Children have the opportunity to explore creative designs
Exhibition of creative products Exhibition of creative products produced by the children at the creative workshops
Opening of crisis intervention centre Opening and running of the crisis intervention centre for emergency purposes
Rehabilitation of atleast 10 needy children Rehabilitation requests arise via the referral system or by basing with other organisations, homes etc.
Child Advocacy Program Workshop & public program on child advocacy regarding the issue of police atrocities & the juvenile justice Act 2000 & its interpretation
Residential workshop on HIV/AIDS Residential workshop on HIV/AIDS Residential workshop with the children of the child watch project where some of the children will have the opportunity to educate their peers on this topic.

Monitoring and Evaluation:
Monitoring is an important component for the organization. The organization monitors internally all the projects and programmes it funds for accountability, effectiveness, value for money and identification of necessary changes/ improvements.
Projects are funded by the Hope Foundation, Irish Aid (Irish Government), (DCI) and Irish and Indian people who fund raise locally. The Hope Kolkata Foundation has a responsibility to all its donors and supporters to ensure that those funds are being used effectively and efficiently in compliance with the agreements governing their use.
The Hope Foundation internal and external monitoring teams evaluate the projects at the end of each financial year.
The Project Co-ordinators submit MIS, Action Plan, Monthly and Quarterly reports. These reports are analysed to evaluate each project. Ongoing activity monitoring and financial monitoring are also important methods of evaluation which is performed by the organisation.
