Case History
Bula's father is workign as raj mistry (mason). He earns Rs 1000/- a month. He gets contract jobs per season. In a year, nearly four to five months he sits idle and has no jobs. Her mother Latha Mistry works as an attendant in a private hospital. She gets paid according to the contract made by the consultancy group (service contract center). Bula's elder sister has studied till class VIII and was then married off, as her parents could not afford her education. On the other hand, Bula is found to be very intelligent. But she is forced to do all household work by her mother. She was given access to Hope coaching center to bring out her potential. She is currently studing in Aurobindo Ballika Vidyalaya.
As her family finds it difficult to support three children's education, Hope Kolkata Foundation is supporting them by giving coaching support so that the children do not drop out from school. Bula is at present studying in class IX and continuing her education.
She is bright, responsive and shows interest in sewing. She would like to become a teacher. She recently received an award for art and culture and has also been sponsored by Chaayya, an NGO who promotes art and culture. |
