Of the 90 children in our Girls Home 87 children are continuing education in reputed schools. The two oldest girls are working, one as a teacher of education and another as a tailoring teacher. |

Of the 40 children in the boys home, 37 children are mainstreamed in formal school and 3 children are attending a special needs school. |

All the children in the girls and boys homes have bank accounts and are developing savings habits. |

All the children in the girls and boys home have medical insurance of which 2 children have so far benefited directly. |

All the children have received festival dresses and birthday dresses. Children are happy. |

38 children received individual counseling and 351children received group counseling in the girls home. This has helped the children to think positively in life and to develop a sense of togetherness. |

64 children received individual counseling and 249 children received group counseling in the boys home. Counseling has helped to reduce tension and fighting often displayed by the boys and has helped the boys to move one step ahead. |

6 mothers whose children are in Hope homes received family support toward medical needs as they were living in difficult circumstance. Four mothers were employed at the Hope Hospital as Ward Ayas. Three girls received educational sponsorship. Dresses and educational material was provided to 30 siblings of children from the girls home. These children live in slum and street dwellings. |

Four beneficiaries of the Hope home family were given necessary support to recover from serious illness. |

Sixteen children from the girls home and 27 children from the boys home received intensive training. |

Sixteen caregivers from the girls home and 12 caregivers from the boys home received intensive training on protection, child psychology and stress management. |

Eighty-one guardians whose children are placed in shelter homes attended training sessions on child protection (health-hygiene, physical and psychological development of children, managing children, and child abuse.) |

Fifty-eight home visits and 128 hostel visits were conducted by the social worker located in the girls home. 36 home visits were conducted by the social worker located in the boy’s home. These visits are possible as a result of the good rapport between the Hope caregivers and the children’s families. |

15 hostel visits were completed in the girls home and 22 visits were completed in the boys home by the counselor to ensure the children placed in these homes are settling in and not experiencing difficulties. |

All the children from the girls and boys homes participated in various inter cultural programmes organized by Don Bosco including Ashallayam and Mongonis cultural show, a film shown on doctors day by The Rotary Club of Mahanagar and a drawing competition organised by Mahanirban Math and other NGOs who promote art and culture. |

The children from the girls and boys homes also participated in an Annual Tour at Vizag during their school vacation. This trip involved visiting a submarine, Aruka Cave, Tsunami Radar, famous temples and other sight seeing places in the local area. |

Tech Mahindra under their CSR programme organised a drawing competition. Of the participants, 10 children won prizes. On visiting our Hope Homes, Tech Mahindra’s members stated this home is “ A dream Home For Kids, we wish we had a home like this”. |

The Punorjibon home for addicted children has been able to equip the residential children with education, life skills, knowledge, confidence and the commitment to enable them to move away from the risks associated with living on the streets and to prepare them for a more responsible and stable lifestyle within the community. Of the 20 boys living in Punorjiban home, 8 boys are attending formal school. |

Rehabilitated children from Punorjiban went to Digha for their annual tour. Children visited Birla Museum also. |

Six older boys have moved to an apartment rented for use as a half way home, which is the last phase of the program after which the boys will be required to support themselves. The boys are going to their respective work places from the apartment and are living independently. |

Five boys were counseled and placed in the de-addiction centre. They will be placed in the Punorjiban home soon. |

As a result of ongoing networking with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and as a result of an increase in the number of children referred from vulnerable situations including platforms, an increased number of children are attending our Howrah drop in centre. |

The project for the rehabilitation of addicted children has had a very positive impact on the community. The law enforcement agencies such as the Railway Protection Force and Government Reserve Police have appreciated our efforts especially on the quality of service we provide including the prompt action taken for needy children. The RPF also helped us by providing a premises to hold a 2-day training course for children. |

Training on Sexual Health for adolescent boys & girls was provided. |

Training on stress management was given to the social worker and caregivers in all homes. The caregivers participated with full enthusiasm and are implementing what they learned in the work place. |

Eleven boys played a football match with participants from other Ngos and won prizes. |
