LIFE SKILL CUM VOCATIONAL TRAINING
Training in vocational & business skills
Target Population: 140 individuals in the age groups of 16-25 years
Geographical area: Ward Numbers 65, 82, 85, 100 & 114


Objectives
•  To develop human potential and create sustainability for the underprivileged women.
To enhance knowlegde and skills of the identified groups.
To create awareness among the street children and the women regarding good health, education and nutrition, and also to provide related support services.
To arrange vocational and technical training courses for the poor and distressed women and for vulnerable groups of women to enhance their skills and enable them to lead a subsistent life.
To take necessary measures to generate income through micro-credit and allied programmes by developing self-help groups.
To help adult boys and girls from the streets of Kolkata receive a decent training job with a reasonable salary.
To improve upon their existing skills.
To help them develop an independent way of living.
To help them attain a more meaningful lifestyle by facilitating their withdrawl from the streets and moving into a recognised trade.
To develop their confidence and potential.

Brief Activities
•  To provide vocational and technical training to underprivileged adolescent girl groups and women under KMC Swaran Jayanti Rojgar Yojana. This course will enhance the knowledge and skills of these women and will enable them to lead subsistent lives.
To provide possible means of income generation thereby improving the economic status of low income families.
Developing contacts between the production units and local boutiques and shops resulting in increased income generation.

Achivements
•  Twenty four exhibitions were held during the financial year at corporate houses including Tollygunge Club, Ages BPO, International Club, Loreto College, Craft Fare at Hathibagan, Sanchar (NGO) and RCFC.
Twenty four trainees completed the tailoring course.
Twelve trainees completed the embroidery course.
Five girls completed the bakery course.
Twelve girls completed the candle course.
Eleven trainees who previously worked in the production unit invested in their own sewing machines and are now working on their own and have secured orders from the market.
Eight girls are currently working in the Hope Production unit.
Fifty women completed the tailoring course under KMC Swaran Jayanti Sohari Rojgar Yojana. All received certificates and tool kits.
Twentyfive women completed beautician courses under KMC Swaran Jayanti Sohari Rojgar Yojana. All received certificates and tool kits.


A tailoring training course commenced on 08.09.07 at Ward numbers 69,100, and 114 in collaboration with Kolkata Municipal Corporation under Swarna Jayanto Sahari Rojgar Jojona scheme. Examinations were conducted on the 15th December 2007 for students of this course. Successful candidates received their certificates one month after the date of the examination. These successful students are also approved for small business loans with the help of Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
